19.-21.1.2024, Bratislava
For us, kicking off the first show marathon of 2024 anywhere other than our (almost) home city just wouldn’t do. The inaugural Slovak dog show weekend is always steeped in festivity for two key reasons – the assessment of the Slovakia Dog Cup for the previous year’s most successful individuals at the dog show, and the Champion of Champions competition. It was an event we couldn’t miss!
We eased into the weekend by participating in the warm-up round at the Friday National Show under the discerning eye of judge Mr. Vlado Piskay. It turned out to be an exceptional experience in every aspect – with detailed judging in a convivial atmosphere culminating in Arya clinching the title of Best of Breed and Rocky securing Best of Opposite! Arya’s triumph also meant she fulfilled the conditions for another national title – Slovak Champion – at a mere 19 months 😊 In the final competitions, alongside Radek, they once again dazzled – amidst stiff competition from adult champions, judge Mrs. Lenka Frnčová awarded them with Reserve Best in Group IX.
The afternoon’s highlight, the Champion of Champions event, was presided over by esteemed judge from the Czech Republic – Mrs. Zdenka Jílková. Arya competed for the last time in the youth class, while Rocky showcased his prowess in the veteran class. The always affable and smiling judge propelled both our dogs into the final competitions, where they represented the breed with distinction! Arya clinched the title of I. Vice Champion of Youth Champions in Group IX, while Rocky shone brightly as he secured the title of Veteran Champion of Champions in Group IX!
Throughout the rest of the weekend, we pursued other prestigious titles as well, but the highlight of the celebrations was undoubtedly the award ceremony of the Slovakia Dog Cup 2023. This esteemed award recognizes the most successful show individuals, with accolades given to the top three in each FCI group and the top 10 overall. Despite commencing the year as a puppy and competing almost entirely in the junior class (which accrues significantly lower points than the adult classes), Arya made her mark in both categories – securing 3rd place in Group IX (with just a 31-point difference from first place) and 10th place in the overall ranking of the Slovakia Dog Cup!
While the beautiful titles, trophies, and testimonials are undoubtedly a highlight of these exhibition marathons, what truly matters most is the cherished time spent with our dogs, friends, and family. We eagerly anticipate what the future holds 😊
